Romford and Sunderland live on Racing Post Greyhound TV
Greyhound punters have plenty to get stuck into tonight with a competitive graded action from Sunderland and decent open racing at Romford.
Racing Post Greyhound TV starts at 7.15pm on sky channel 212 with the first race from Sunderland at 7.25.
An interesting runner at Romford is KILLOE DAN from T1 in the 8.02 maiden open over the standard 400 meter trip. The Irish recruit will be making his English racing début tonight but has gone very well in trials and looks the one to beat. The slight concern is the draw on the rails, with plenty of middle comments on his card the Paul Young trained greyhound will surely be looking to move off at trap rise so can’t afford a missed break. Never Your Fault (T5) won well on his last appearance and looks the main danger.
The 8.18 maiden stayers race is an interesting one with plenty capable on a going day, one that caught the eye last week over course and distance was GONEWIDE who looks well drawn in T1. The Maxine Locke daughter of Swords Prince has recently returned from her seasonal break and has been running with credit over the six bend trip – now faced with a realist chance to lead round the recent S1 graded winner could be difficult to catch with one of her better breaks. Underground Swan (T2) is sure to prove very popular in the market after catching the eye last time out, the lightly raced former Irish open class stayer will be a danger to all if within striking distance off the last bend. Slick Savi won well over four bends recently and could be a huge runner as the solo wide seed.
MILLWARDS KATY took off over course and distance last week and with a similar break from T4 this week the daughter of Kinloch Brea can take the 9.06 open race at Romford. The Paul Young trained greyhound is a top class performer and with anything like a level break she will take all the beating. Mikes Machine is also a top performer over C&D and would be a danger to all if leading round on the rails. Genesis Demester (T3) is a little inconsistent at the traps but very pacey when it all clicks, will it be a going night tonight though?.
Draws win races and MARMALADY has a cracker in the 10.26 in T6. The Dave Mullins trained greyhound is the solo wide seed and should enjoy a clear run into the first bend and would be a danger to all on the bunny, it is however a very competitive race with the likes of course specialist Dower Matt (T1), Lemon Pluto (T3) and Southfield Noir (T2) all capable on a going day.
Over at Sunderland take a chance on BIG HIT MAN from T6 in the 10.03 A5 graded race. The solo wide seed has a plot draw to work from and if he leads round he will be hard to beat in this grade. He is however a very frustrating sort who often finds one to good, but in a field full of inconsistent starters he could get first run and pull clear down the back straight.
Moving on Saturday and it’s Shawfield live on Racing Post Greyhound TV
Greyhound punters are in for a treat on Saturday evening with the start of the Scottish Derby from Shawfield live on RPGTV. The first heat gets underway at 8.02 and Barry Drapers BALLYMAC MOSSJOE could get first run on his rivels from T2. The Sheffield raider is blessed with early pace and could grab the rails and lead round and kick clear down the back straight. Lenson Sanchez (T1) is a class act and would be a danger to all if turning handy or holding the rails into the first corner.
NEWINN YOLO runs from T2 in heat 5 at 9.06 and the Pat Rosney trained son of Crash will take all the beating with a clear run. Capable of doing it from the front or from slightly off the pace Newinn Yolo will be a huge runner throughout the competition.
