Friday 9th October – Romford and Sunderland live on Racing Post Greyhound TV
RPGTV returns to our screens this evening with competitive open race action from Romford plus a decent mixed card from Sunderland – the action is live on Sky channel 212 from 7.15pm.
The first race to highlight this evening is the 8.34 open race over the standard four bend trip at Romford of 400 meters.
PINPOINT LAD is the selection from T1, the Jim Reynolds trained son of Ballymac Maeve has been keeping very good company of late and finding life tough, he can return to winning ways this evening if he breaks in best fashion from his rails draw.
The key to the race as ever will be the break and run into the first corner, if Pinpoint Lad holds the rails and turns off the second bend in a challenging position its race on. To Tone Max (T5) and Aero Shell (T6) both show early pace in their races and if either were to lead round they would be a huge danger to our selection.
JOLLY RANGER runs from T4 in the 8.50 open race and if the Poole raider repeats the 3.73 sectional and 24.02 clock that he recorded over course and distance on the 9th September that would make him very hard to beat this evening.
The key to the race is clearing Dave You Go (T3) at trap rise, that rival can show early pace in his races so its imperative that we break well and get first run.
Zoos Boom Boom (T1) looks well drawn on the rails and the early paced railer could be in the perfect pitch to take advantage if there is crowding on his outside.
WALKING TIMEBOMB (T3) is improving with every run over course and distance and if the Phil Simmonds trained son of Vans Escalade breaks in best fashion tonight he can make all again over a trip that clearly suits this early paced type.
It is however a very competitive race, and with the likes of Bolshio Booze (T4) in opposition our selection can not afford an error at the traps. Sneezys Rose (T1) is a consistent sort around Romford and could be the one to take advantage if the early paced runners get in each others way at the traps.
A little later on look out for KILLOUGHTEEN PAT who runs from T2 in the Romford Friday Night 500 Sprint Final over the 225 meter trip. As ever in a sprint race the break will be vital, if Pat manages to clear the pace on his inside and hold Opus Star (T3) into the first bend he will take the world of beating this evening.
Mash Mad Rumble (T5) beat our selection last time out when he flew from the traps and was couple of lengths clear at the first bend, he held off Killoughteen Pat to record a three quarter length victory and has a chance again this evening is breaking in similar fashion. Earls Spartan (T6) also won well in the heats last week and the Martin Wiley trained runner would be a lively runner if he brings his trapping boots again.
The final selection on the Romford card is SWIFT DARWIN who runs from T1 in the 9.56 open race over the six bend 575 meter trip.
The Dave Mullins trained railer won well last week and he looks ideally drawn this evening to follow up and record another victory, the key to the race will be holding Manic Pellegrini (T2) into the first corner and avoiding an early bump, if our selection can follow Brookside Queen (T3) round it’s race on as that rival could struggle to stay the trip at full pace, turn a handy second and Swift Darwin will be hard to beat.
Slick Savi (T6) is a more that capable wide seed over course and distance and if he manages to lead round and go clear he would be a danger to all.
Over at Sunderland look out for PENNYS WANDA from T1 in the A4 graded race at 9.48 over the standard four bend trip of 450 meters. The early paced daughter of Forest Master is taking a drop in class tonight after four runs in A3 grade, if the early paced railer manages to hold her pitch into the first corner and lead off the second bend she can make all this evening.
Lightly raced Chilly Baja (T4) rates as the main danger, the Yvonne Bell runner has been well supported in her races of late and would be a huge runner here if turning in a handy pitch.
