The Golden Sprint Heats live on Racing Post Greyhound TV
Cracking action this evening with the start of the Golden Sprint heats live on RPGTV from 7.15pm and competitive graded action at Sunderland.
The first race to highlight is heat number one at 7.46 – LEMON PLUTO (T1) won well last time out over course and distance and looks the one to beat tonight. The key to the race will be the break, if Pluto leads round the others will be playing for second place.
Mays Teejay (T4) is capable of a ping break and rates as the danger. Dians Shadow (T5) won well last Friday and will also be looking to lead round – it’s a competitive race and as ever, it’s all on the break.
EVANTA FANTASY (T3) should take heat number two at 8.02 – the Mark Wallis trained course and distance specialist is a consistent trapper and with one of her better breaks this should be all over down the back straight. Lough Messi (T5) is a class act but has been a little below his best recently but would be a danger to all on the bunny. Bonamassa Rocks (T2) will be staying on well and looking to claim a qualifying spot for the next round.
In the third heat at 8.18 take a chance on AFFANE SCOLARI from T2 – the lightly raced Perry Barr raider was noted as staying on well last week after finding early trouble and looks capable of a better break based on efforts elsewhere. On the bunny Affane Scolari could be hard to beat. Key to the race will be clearing Dower Matt (T1) into the first corner. What a laugh (T6) could go well as the solo wide seed.
YOU NEVER LISTEN looks very well drawn in the 8.50 from T1 and the Jim Reynolds trained bitch will take all the beating – she has been flying over course and distance recently and at Crayford the last twice – with Southern Mesut inconsistent at the traps You Never Listen should lead round on the rails. Express Max (T5) and Buoy Johnny (T6) both have chances to qualify with ping breaks.
KILKENNY TREVE (T3) won well last week on Romford début and looks one to follow over the 400 meter trip. The lightly raced son of Ballymac Maeve has a chance tonight with a ping break, this is however a very competitive race with the likes of Rio Quattro (T1) Southfield Noir (T2) Leamaneigh Turbo (T5) and Dragon Big Brux (T6) in opposition.
A little later on JIMMY NAILED ON (T6) should go well in the 10.26 open race over the six bend 575 meter trip – the Mark Wallis trained wide seed looks very well drawn this evening with most of the field looking to lead at the rails. Airport Captain (T2) is a class act but might find Sugar Rush (T1) on his inside at the first bend – this could cause problems for the railers and hand the advantage to recent Peter Bussey Memorial winner Jimmy Nailed On.
Over at Sunderland the best bet on the card is MILL GRETCHEN (T6) in the 8.42 A3 graded race, the Kelly Macari trained greyhound will be staying on well and looks well drawn as the solo wide seed.
Moving onto Saturday and it’s Crayford and Newcastle live on RPGTV
Newcastle stages a decent card with plenty of open races for punters to get stuck into. An interesting runner on the card is FARRAN HEASLIP (T2) in the 8.10 – the youngster has always looked like a stayer in the making and will be attempting the 640 meter six bend trip for the first time on Saturday – watch out for market support. Elwick Glory (T3) is another that always looked capable of going well over further and would be a danger to all on the bunny.
AIRMOUNT PACO (T2) went off the boil towards the end of 2014 but hinted at a return to form recently with some decent four bend trials – if Airmount Paco is back to his best he will take all the beating. Pinpoint Buster (T1) is a capable sort and will be looking to lead at the rails and make all.
JACKSABULLET (T5) was a huge eye catcher last week and with a clear run in the 8.42 he looks the likely winner. The 480 meter handicap race see’s our selection giving T1 a fourteen length head start, but the class greyhounds towards the back of the field will be closing the pack down along the back straight and if within striking distance off the last bend Jacksabullet should have too much class for this opposition.
Over at Crayford, take a chance on NEWCASTLE LAD in the A1 at 9.40 – the youngster looks well drawn with all the early pace in his outside, if he can hold those rival into the first corner and lead round its race on.
As ever, you can back these selections over on our greyhound betting hub. Best of luck if you’re having a punt on the geyhounds with us this weekend!
