The 2015 Greyhound Derby Final live on Racing Post Greyhound TV
What a weekend of greyhound racing we have in prospect with two cracking cards tonight from Romford and Sunderland live on RPGTV then Wimbledon takes centre stage tomorrow evening with one of the cards of the year featuring the Champion Hurdle Final, the Derby Plate Final and the 2015 Derby Final at 9.08 all live on Sky Sports.
The first race to highlight this evening is the Puppy open race at 7.39 from Sunderland – BRIAR LANE AMBER (T1) went well in a trial over course and distance recently and with one of her better breaks she can lead at the rails this evening and make all.
Swift Tiler (T2) is a class sort and would be a danger to our selection if turning handy but the lack of a look round might just be the downfall for the Romford raider. Bramble Ghost (T4) has some solid Newcastle form on his card and has a chance with a decent break.
A little later on look out for PINPOINT LILLY from T6 in the 8.26 open race over the six bend 640 meter distance. The solo wide seed looks very well drawn and comes into the race off a decent trial over the c&d, on the bunny the Kelly Macari trained daughter of Mill Pointpoint will be hard to beat.
Aayamzamodel (T4) has been keeping very good company of late and rates as the danger especially if that rival manages to clear the pace on his inside and grab the rails around the first couple of bends.
Over at Romford look out for Slick Supreme from T6 in the 9.06 Friday night Sprint Final. As the solo wide seed in the race Slick Supreme should enjoy a clear run into the corner and a repeat of last weeks run should be good enough to take this race. Other notable runners on the card include EL PEDRO (T1) on six bend debut in the 9.40 and OUTDOOR RUMBLE from T1 in the 9.56.
Saturday – Wimbledon live on Racing Post Greyhound TV
On Saturday we have one of the cards of the year to get stuck into with the Champion Hurdle, Dorando Marathon, Derby Plate Final and the 2015 Greyhound Derby Final all live on Sky Sports.
The Dorando Marathon at 8.16 can go to ROXHOLME MAGIC from T4, the lightly raced daughter of Definate Opinion has made a big impression since moving over from Ireland and if the strong wide runner can get round the first couple of bends in a handy posiiton she will be very hard to beat.
Droopys Cottage (T2) from the Dean Childs kennel is an interesting runner now stepped up to a marathon trip but she will need to break in best fashion to avoid an early bump with Bubbly Time (T3) looking to move towards the rails at trap rise.
The Champion Hurdle Final can go to the well drawn JETSTREAM REASON in T1 – our selection just has to hold the rails into the first bend and turn with the pacesetters and then it’s race on down the back straight. Razdazlnewstalk (T2) won well last week but might struggle to clear our selection at trap rise.
The Derby Plate Final at 8.51 can go to the early paced ACLAMON MESSI from the June McCombe Belle Vue based kennel. The son of Scolari Me Daddy won well in the heats last week and a repeat of that run should be good enough to take this race. The key to the race will be the break, with plenty of early pace in the race it’s imperative that ‘Messi’ gets first run and leads round.
The 2015 Greyhound Derby Final at 9.08 can go to the Irish raider from T2 – FARLOE BLITZ. If the Owen McKenna trained son of Premier Fantasy pings again and leads off the second bend he will prove very hard to beat.
Track record holder Eden The Kid (T4) has the back straight pace to mount a serious challenge but might he held up at the first bend by Making Paper (T3) who can show decent early pace and is likely to edge off slightly from a middle draw. Milllwards Davy (T5) and Tynwald Bish (T6) will both be looking to ping and make all from wide draws.
Rio Quattro (T1) has a decent draw to work from and could be the one to challenge our selection down the back straight – if he turns within a couple of lengths it will turn into a very interesting race. Good luck to all trainers and connections with a runner in the 2015 Greyhound Derby Final.
Best of luck if you’re having a bet on the greyhounds this weekend – as ever you can back these selection over on our daily greyhound betting hub.
