The Golden Sprint Semi Finals live on Racing Post Greyhound TV
Cracking action this evening with the Golden Sprint Semi Finals live on RPGTV, plus competitve graded action from Sunderland – the show starts at 7.15pm.
It’s all about the break in the first semi final at 8.50 with MAYS TEEJAY (T1), Ibiza Rocks (T2) and You Never Listen (T3) all looking to lead at the first bend – with the inside line preference is for the Dolby trained Mays Teejay in the red jacket.
Our selection was a beaten finalist in this competition last year and goes very well over course and distance. You Never Listen has been flying of late but let backers down last week with a slow break – if shes back on form tonight shes a danger to all. What A Laugh (T5) has been pinging out and making all from the six box recently, will he ping from trap five tonight?
In the second Semi Final take a chance on DRUMSNA TURBO from T3 – the lightly raced railer looks capable of a fast break and with inconsistent trappers on his inside he could lead round tonight and land a shock victory at huge odds.
Lough Messi won this competition last year and hinted at a return to form last time out and will be looking to make all from T4. Lenson Tiggy (T5) was very impressive last Friday in the first round but is surrounded by early paced types tonight so he will need to bring his trapping boots and ping out to qualify for the final.
In the third and final Semi Final AFFANE SCOLARI looks well drawn on the rails in T1 – the Perry Barr raider has been staying on well in his last two runs over course and distance after finding early trouble. The key to this race for supporters will be the break – lead round and it’s race on.
Rio Quattro (T3) is a class act and will be looking to turn handy from his middle draw while Leamaneigh Turbo (T4) will be looking to make all and lead the middle to wide runners. Don’t rule out Express Max (T5) or Laughing Gravy (T6) both are very capable sorts on the bunny.
The final race on the Romford card see’s Bubbly Time run from T1, the champagne club runner has been keeping good company lately including finishing second in the Golden Jacket final at Crayford – he found the marathon trip at Wimbledon a little to far last time out and will surely appreciate this slight drop in distance and class this evening.
He is however going to start a very short price and the value could be elsewhere – Genie (T2) will be looking to grab the rails early and lead round but our selection is FLAWLESS FLOYD from T6. The wide seed has been slightly below his best recently but after a two week layoff he has a chance with a ping break.
Ove at Sundelrand look out for ISTHEINKDRY from T2 in the 8.26 A2 graded race – the early paced railer returned to the track last week after a brief layoff and race a cracker when beaten just a neck by Mill Gully. The key to this race will be the break, if our selection can ping out and lead round it’s race on.
Tullig Hailstone (T3) is a decent early paced youngster so its imperative that we hold that rival into the first corner.
Moving on to Saturday it’s Crayford and Newcastle live on RPGTV
Greyhound punters are in for a treat on Saturday evening with a cracking card at Newcastle. Recent PinPoint Recruitment Maiden Derby winner FARLOE QUEST will take all the beating in the 9.15 from T5.
The Kelly Macari trained middle seed will be looking to ping out and make all over the standard 480 meter distance – with the likes of Calzaghe Davy (T4) Ascot Woodie (T1) and Calzaghe George (T2) in opposition its a top class race and it’s all on the break.
A little later on SKYWALKER ALICE will be very hard to beat in the 10.03 from T1. The Ted Soppit trained greyhound has been a little disappointing since moving over from Ireland but she now takes a huge drop in class and her recent trial hinted at a return to form – on the bunny she would be hard to beat.
Kilara Roz (T6) will be staying on well and could the danger.
Over at Crayford look out for TIME TO THINK (T2) in the S1 at 9.06 – the former Henlow grader won well on Crayford début last week and can repeat that trap to line victory over the 540 meter distance on Saturday evening.
With a short run to the bend the break will be vital; Hearthill Fairy (T4) will be staying on well and could be the danger.
