Sunderland and Romford live on Racing Post Greyhound TV
RPGTV returns to our screens this evening with competitive action on show from Sunderland and Romford, join the Racing Post Greyhound TV presenters and guests from 7.15pm tonight on Sky channel 212 for all the latest news, previews, non runners and market movers.
The first race to highlight tonight is the maiden stayers open race at 7.46 over the 575 meter trip at Romford. MOANTEEN MERLIN who runs from T6 is the selection for the race, the Sittingbourne raider looks ideally drawn as the solo wide seed in the race and if he breaks in best fashion he should lead round and kick for home down the back straight.
The Mark Wallis trained Cisberry Geo (T1) rates as the main danger, the Towcester based greyhound has been in decent form of late and he could be the one to turn behind our selection if he holds his pitch into the first corner. Opus Sky (T3) will be staying on well and would be a danger to all with a clear run.
DEANRIDGE PENNYS is a very interesting runner on the 8.34 open race over the 575 meter trip and any market moves should be noted about this runner. Deanridge Penny was based in Ireland until recently and he comes into the race with plenty of top class form on his card and the recent trial over the 400 meter distance at Romford suggests all is well and he could be the one to beat tonight. It is however a very competitive race, Globel Chariot (T1), Savana Razzle (T2) and Reel Shirty (T5) would all fancy their chances on the bunny.
The Romford Friday Night Final Maidens open at 9.06 can go to local runner DUBAI JASMINE who lines up for the race in T2. The Martin Wiley trained daughter of Flying Penske has been in fine form of late and with one of her better breaks she should lead round and once on the bunny she is a more than capable sort in this type of race.
Droopys Ashorish (T5) is a very promising youngster and could be one to watch in the market, the son of Droopys Jet finished second behind our selection last time out but would fancy he chances of turning around that form with an improved sectional.
FIVERSTAR CLIPPER is looking to make it five on the bounce around Romford over the 575 meter trip and it’s hard to see past the Derek Knight trained runner when he lines up from T6 in the 9.24 open race. As the solo wide seed in the race Clipper looks ideally drawn and with one of his better breaks it should be all over bar the shouting down the back straight.
Millwards Master (T2) hinted at a recent to form last time out and the 2014 Champion Stakes winner rates as the main danger to our selection. Jaytee Berlin (T3) is a consistent sort over course and distance and he would be danger to all with a clear run.
The final selection on the Romford card is MOSSVALE ACE who runs from T1 in the Essex Vase trial race at 10.26. The Derek Knight trained Hove raider went very well in a trial over course and distance recently and if he repeats that sort of run he would be very hard to beat, as ever the break and run into the first corner will be vital, hold the rails and it’s race on.
Soviet Kenny (T5) rates as the main danger, the 2015 Coronation Cup winner is more than capable of taking a race like this on a going day.
Over at Sunderland look out for WALSHES HILL (T3) in the sprint open race at 8.58 over the 261 meter trip. The Jimmy Wright trained son of Zero Ten is one of the leading sprinters in the country and he should be able to take this race if he secures a clear run into the first corner.
Another worth keeping an eye on is CALZAGHE DAVY (T5) in the standard open race at 9.32. Davy is a class act and with anything like a clear run he should be too good for these. Plenty of the field will be looking for the rails at trap rise, Davy should be able to lead down the middle of the track and if he holds Rather Be (T6) early on he will take all the beating.
