The 2015 Greyhound Derby Third Round Heats
What a weekend of greyhound racing we have in prospect with Romford and Sunderland live on Racing Post greyhound tv this evening, while on Saturday all eyes will be on Wimbledon for the third round heats of the derby – it should be a cracker!
The first race to highlight this evening is the Rose Bowl final at 9.24 from Romford, the six bend competition can be won by BLONDE RAZOR from T1.
The Mark Wallis trained Towcester raider looks ideally drawn on the rails and with one of his better breaks he should lead this field and kick form home off the second bend, he is a class act on the bunny and would be very hard to beat.
Jimmy Nailed On (T6) rates as the main danger, the key to his chances will be clearing Slick Savi (T5) into the first corner as that rival can show decent early pace.
A little later on look out for DROOPYS TAMERA from T6 in the 10.26 marathon at Romford over the eight bend 750 meter trip.
The solo wide seed looks very well drawn and if she manages to turn handy she should go very close.
It is however a very competitive race with the likes of Rearguard Bond (T2), Bubbly Time (T3) and Droopys Cottage (T4) all class performers over this sort of trip and very capable of taking a race of this nature.
Romford superstar ADAGEO BOB can take the 10.40 open race from T4.
The course and distance specialist is a class act over this 575 meters and should appreciate this drop in class after taking part in the 2015 greyhound derby recently, the key is simply the break – on the bunny Bob will be away and gone.
Soviet Kenny (T5) is the main rival to our selection and would be a danger to all if leading around the first couple of bends.
Saturday – Wimbledon live on Racing Post Greyhound TV
The 2015 Greyhound Derby third round heats take centre stage on Saturday evening with the first heat at 7.16.
There are eight heats in total and with just three qualifying from each race into the next round there are sure to be some shocks on the night.
The second heat at 7.32 can go to the classy irish raider DROOPYS NIDGE from T6.
The solo wide seed will need clear Coolavanny Jap (T5) at trap rise but if Nidge manages to do so it’s race on.
Badmoonrising (T1) is the likely leader in the race but if Nidge can turn within a couple of lengths it’s race on down the back straight.
Teds Last (T4) is very lightly raced and if the Charlie Lister trained runner managed to ping and lead he would take some beating, having previously been draw closer to the rails the draw in T4 is an unknown.
CLARES WONDER looks well drawn in T6 and if the Irish raider breaks well he will take all the beating from T6. The key to this race is simply the break and run into the first corner, lead round and it’s race on.
RFS puppy derby winner and Scottish greyhound derby finalist Lenson Sanchez is sure to prove popular from T4, the Pat Buckley trained son of Tullymurry Act is a consistent sort and will be looking to grab a qualifying spot of the next round. The consistent On Alert (T1) is another that should go well in a competitive race.
The 8.19 is a cracker, Farloe Blitz (T1), Newinn Yolo (T3), and new track record holder Eden The Kid (T4) will all be looking to qualify for the next round and with all capable of a ping break the run into the first corner will be vital.
On the draw slight preference is for FARLOE BLITZ, the son of Premier Fantasy has blistering early pace and improved nicely on the clock last time out, with further improvement likely he should go very close from his inside draw.
