Europe’s elite clubs remain active in the transfer market
The 2015 summer transfer window has been incredibly busy so far, with the majority of Europe’s biggest clubs making moves to bolster their squads ahead of the upcoming campaign. In last week’s edition, we discussed Christian Benteke’s move to Liverpool and James McCarthy’s proposed move away from Goodison Park. In the latest article, we take a look at Arturo Vidal’s latest transfer and consider Angel di Maria’s future at Manchester United. Supporters have been blessed with big money moves in the opening weeks of the transfer period and football fans across the globe will be hoping for the huge deals to continue throughout the window.
Arturo Vidal has completed his move from Juventus to Bayern Munich
The Bundesliga champions confirmed that the Chilean will join the club in the coming days after a reported fee of £26 million was agreed for the midfielder. Vidal, who was instrumental for Juventus last season, will join the likes of Xabi Alonso, Mario Gotze and Javi Martinez in Bayern’s midfield and will face stiff competition for a regular spot in Pep Guardiola’s starting line-up. The Chilean is an extremely talented prospect and could prove to be a pivotal member of Bayern’s squad as they seek to compete for yet another Champions League title.
Angel di Maria could transfer to Paris Saint-Germain in the near future
The Manchester United winger struggled to settle during his first year in English football and could transfer out of Old Trafford this summer. Di Maria, who featured for Argentina in the Copa America last month, is one of the best players on the planet and is capable of producing exquisite moments of magic on the football pitch. Despite his big money move last season, he failed to cut it in the Premier League and spent a large portion of 2015 sat on the sidelines. If Paris Saint-Germain offer a suitable remuneration package for the Argentina international, the 13-time Premier League champions may find it hard to turn down.
Arsenal will be patient in their pursuit of Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema
According to reports, the Gunners are interested in signing France international Karim Benzema but will remain patient as they prepare a formal bid for the striker. Arsenal finished third in the Premier League last season and are looking for a world class striker as they challenge for a first Premier League success since 2004. Benzema, who signed for Real Madrid in 2009, is regarded as the ‘most’ expendable forward at the Santiago Bernabeu and Arsenal will be sensing an opportunity to pursue the striker. Arsenal have been linked with Benzema on numerous occasions but this may be their most realistic chance of signing the 27-year-old star.
John Stones has been linked with a big money move to Chelsea
The Everton defender could transfer to the Premier League champions this summer for an estimated fee of £30 million. Jose Mourinho has praised the centre-back and is expected to make a second bid for Stones after Everton rejected £20 million earlier this week. Blues defender Gary Cahill has encouraged Stones to move to Stamford Bridge this summer and it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see the 21-year-old join up with the England international at Chelsea before the start of the new season. The Toffees will be hoping to keep Stones at the club but might consider selling the defender if the Blues meet their valuation.
Will Stones be a Chelsea player before the start of the season? Is Angel di Maria going to stay at Old Trafford or move to the French capital? Let us know your thoughts!
