In-form Stoke host Manchester City at the Britannia Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon and I have a feeling that this is going to be a lot, lot closer than the BetBright odds compilers believe.< !-more-->
Stoke did lose their last match at the Stadium of Light to Sunderland last week but, they were well in the match until captain Ryan Shawcross saw red.
Despite that loss they have put a pretty decent run together in recent weeks losing just two of their last 11 matches and they’ve been totally overlooked with quotes of 43/10 with BetBright to get maximum points on Saturday.
Mark Hughes still feels he was very unfairly sacked by Manchester City in his reign at the Etihad and he will have his side up for the challenge ahead.
Even though I do think they look overpriced, I just couldn’t back them for the win without the suspended Shawcross.
City are 4/6 at BetBright for the win (which is the best price in the land) and they are right to want to take them on as odds-on favourites have been turned over with regularity in the early Saturday Premier League matches. I really couldn’t back them at the prices.
The Premier League title favourites did win this fixture 4-1 last year, but that was their first success at the Potteries in their last seven visits and for that reason, on what is going to be a very testing afternoon in Stoke-like conditions, I’m going to take the draw which is available at a massive 3/1 with BetBright.
What type of game we are going to witness is anybody’s guess with 15 of the last 16 Stoke matches featuring under 2.5 goals.
In nine of their last 10 games both teams have failed to score.
Compare those stats to City’s recent record of six of their last eight games seeing both teams scoring as a yes, and you will realise what a tough one those markets are to call.
I would have to have a small play on Under 2.5 goals which is 7/10 with BetBright as everybody knows what a tough visit in the Premier League calendar Stoke is and at a price that will get most punters’ juices going a 1-1 draw would be my correct-score pick at the 11/2 with BetBright.
Under 2.5 Goals @ 7/10
Draw @ 3/1
Correct Score 1-1 @ 11/2
