Nigel Seeley’s Southampton v Tottenham Premier League Preview

BetBright/ Comments Off on Nigel Seeley’s Southampton v Tottenham Premier League Preview

We are just a week away from Christmas and there is nothing at all in this weekend’s set of Premier League fixtures that is getting me in the festive mood.

In fact it’s making me thoroughly miserable.

I’ve looked at all this weekend’s matches and I honestly believe it’s not a bad thing to back under 2.5 goals, draws and no goalscorers in pretty much every match.

Well aren’t I a jolly one; hopefully old Seeley Scrooge will be getting some readies to get spend on some last minute Christmas presents when I go against goals.

The Betbright lads and lasses haves asked me to look at Saturday’s 3pm kick-off – live on Setanta Sports – which sees Mauricio Pochettino take his Tottenham side down to the south coast to take on his former team Southampton; this really looks a tricky one to call.

Tottenham are 7/4 to get maximum points with BetBright and they do need to bounce back after last week’s shock home defeat against Newcastle.

With just one win in their last four matches, this is the first time Pochettino and Spurs are in the middle of a bad run; this is a big test for them on Saturday afternoon.

Ronald Koeman’s side are still surprisingly the 17/11 favourites with BetBright but with no wins in their last five matches – four of them ending in defeats – they can’t be backed with any confidence either.

The Saints’ lost 1-0 last week at Crystal Palace and the alarming thing for Koeman is that they haven’t won in their last three home matches.

The goals have dried and that spells trouble for the home side.

My strategy in the last few years has been to always back the draw when the bookies can’t split the two sides and this is the closest match in the Premier League this weekend.

That won’t be changing now and at 9/4 with BetBright that is a bet I really like again.

Last season the two played out a very entertaining 2-2 draw but I really can’t see the “desmond” this time around – I fancy this to be a lot tighter.

I’m all over under 2.5 goals as I said in the intro at BetBright’s 15/2 I’m also prepared to risk a couple of quid on no goalscorer at St Mary’s.

Selections:
Under 2.5 Goals @ 8/11
Draw @ 9/4
Correct Score 0-0 @ 15/2
