There is just one live Premier League match on Sky this Saturday and if you have a Christmas party to go or any late night last minute Christmas shopping, then my advice is get down the boozer early or hit the shops and give Newcastle v Aston Villa a wide berth.
I’m not really feeling any Christmas cheer in this clash between two Premier League strugglers; really the only value that the can see in this one is by opposing goals.
Newcastle will be a very confident selection with an awful lot of BetBright clients at even money after two impressive wins in their last two matches against tough opposition in Liverpool and Tottenham.
I can see why they would be, but I still couldn’t part my cash on them at those prices.
When you are relying on a Steve McClaren side to win for you at even money, that is the day that I give the punting game up.
In saying that Aston Villa are shocking as well and they can’t be backed either at 37/13 to give their manager Remi Garde his first success in the Villa Park hot-seat.
The visitors have only one Premier League victory all season which was back on the opening day of the campaign at Bournemouth and many are predicting that they could beat Derby’s record of the lowest ever Premier League points total.
Villa have a bad recent record on Tyneside as well, with no wins in their last nine visits.
Their last success at St James’ Park was 11 years ago and I can’t see them ended that sorry run at the weekend.
The visitors are really struggling for goals with just 13 scored all season, which is the lowest in the division; betting against goals is the best way to get punting in this match for all the neutrals.
Under 2.5 goals is 3/4 with Betbright and I do like that an awful lot. I also like both teams not to score at the 19/20 which should be in everybody’s BTTS BetBright weekend accumulators.
While we are punting on the lack of goalmouth action under 1.5 goals also looks another great bet at 11/5 with BetBright. If we do get a goal in the match, it’s very likely to be enough for either side to win it.
Another angle that I want to get against goals with is to back a 1-0 Newcastle home victory at 11/2 and no goalscorer in the match at 8/1 in a match-up that really won’t be very pretty.
With those two correct-scores coupled you can get 11/4 with BetBright and that does look fair value to me.
Under 2.5 Goals @ 3/4
Under 1.5 Goals @ 11/5
Correct Score Newcastle 1-0 @ 11/2
Correct score 0-0 Draw @ 8/1
