Vintage Reds would be too potent for Bordeaux
Liverpool won’t risk the outstanding Philippe Coutinho against Bordeaux at Anfield on Thursday as the Brazilian has a hamstring injury that requires rest but the Reds at hoping that he’ll be fit to face Swansea on Sunday to help boost his team’s rise up the Premier League table.
Coutinho hadn’t started either of Liverpool’s two matches in the Europa League since Jurgen Klopp took over, however, and may have been rested in any case. The Merseysiders have yet to taste defeat in Europe this season but their 1-0 victory against Rubin Kazan in Russia two weeks ago was their first in the Europa League.
Amazingly, since they’ve won convincingly at Chelsea and Manchester City in recent weeks, Liverpool have only won once at Anfield under Klopp. Rubin and Sion have both taken away a point from trips there in the Europa League. But a win over Bordeaux will ensure progress to the last 32 and the Reds should be in a better position after Christmas to move forward.
Christian Benteke has only just returned from injury and Daniel Sturridge is still working his way back to full fitness. Both were on the bench for Saturday’s stunning win at the Etihad, however, and can expect some game time against Bordeaux along with youngster Jordan Ibe.
They have won only three of their last 14 games in all competitions and have slipped into the bottom half of Ligue 1 – clean sheets have become something of a rarity. They’ll be without the suspended Wahbi Khazri and have never beaten Liverpool in three previous meetings. The Reds have won 10 of 13 previous home matches against French opposition, losing only twice.
There will probably be a few changes made by Klopp for this one but his resurgent team will be hard to resist if they are in the same mood as against Manchester City at the weekend. We have Liverpool at 40/85 to win in our Full Time Result betting with the Premier League team at 27/20 in our Handicap betting conceding a one-goal start.
Christian Benteke should start and is Evens to be an Anytime Goalscorer and we also like the look of Emre Can at 4/1 in the same market. We are offering 29/10 for there to be 4-5 goals in our Total Goals (Aggregated) betting.
The match kicks off at 8.05pm on Thursday, November 26th at Anfield
