Close encounter looks on the cards between the in-form Owls and Tigers
Hull City will be a big test for the Wednesday resurgence when they visit Hillsborough for the lunchtime kick-off in the Championship this Saturday.
The Owls have won their last four and are five unbeaten, a run that has seen them climb into the top half of the table and earn a Capital One Cup tie at home to Arsenal next week.
But Carlos Carvalhal doesn’t want his squad to rest on their laurels. With so many players to choose from, it’s natural that there are going to be plenty disappointed when the matchday squad is announced. Lewis McGugan has clearly got his head down and worked hard in training recently, however, and has been rewarded with a return to the first team.
The former Nottingham Forest and Watford midfielder scored the winner in the victory over Premier League Newcastle last month and netted a spectacular goal to seal three points against Preston before the international break. We have priced up McGugan at 9/2 to be an Anytime Goalscorer against Hull City, though Fernando Forestieri is our favourite in this market alongside the Tigers’ Shaun Moloney at 5/2.
Wednesday have only beaten Hull once at Hillsborough since 1991 and Steve Bruce’s side are going well this season after relegation. They are also unbeaten in five and Uruguayan international Abel Hernandez has scored in their last two matches. But, despite retaining plenty of players with Premier League experience, they aren’t prolific scorers and Wednesday will fancy their chances of grabbing all three points (13/8 in our Full Time Result betting) if they can score at least once.
The draw is also a possibility between two in-form teams (85/40) as goals are likely to be at a premium. Under 2.5 in our Goals Over/Under market is 3/5 while Draw/Draw on our Half Time/Full Time list is 13/4. Draw/Wednesday in the same market is 21/5.
The match kicks off at 12.15pm on Saturday, October 17th at Hillsborough
