Wolves looking for derby joy at the iPro
Wolves may be considering dipping into the loan market after news emerged that Ethan Ebanks-Landell won’t play again until December at the earliest because of a fractured foot.
The 22-year-old defender doesn’t need an operation, however, which would have meant a much longer lay-off but it leaves Kenny Jackett short of defensive options.
Wanderers had some momentum going into the international break, however, having beaten both Fulham and Huddersfield by the same 3-0 scoreline. Those victories propelled Wolves back into the top half of the Championship and they are now just a couple of points adrift of this weekend’s opponents Derby County.
We have priced up Wolves at 5/6 in our Full Time Result betting to win Sunday’s Midlands derbyAdd to betslip at the iPro Stadium, though Derby have only lost once in the league this season and have won four of their last five.
Wolves will want to forget last season’s 5-0 thrashing at the iPro but that was the first time they’d lost at Derby since 1993 and there are high hopes that the status quo will be restored this weekend.
This match could provide opportunities for Nathan Byrne and James Henry to get forward and support Benik Afobe. The latter scored twice against Huddersfield before the international break and is 18/1 to be First Goalscorer against DerbyAdd to betslip. Henry is 11/2 to be an Anytime ScorerAdd to betslip but the Wolves defence will need to be at the top of the game to keep the Rams’ front six at bay. Several of the home teams’ forwards are full internationals with Premier League experience. We are offering 18/5 for 0 in our Goals Home Team marketAdd to betslip.
Dave Edwards only lasted 20 minutes for Wales against Andorra on Tuesday so could be a doubt for Wolves. Kevin McDonald withdrew from the Scotland squad last week so may also be a doubt and Wanderers’ resources are being stretched to the limit at present with George Saville and Tommy Rowe out on loan.
Wolves are 19/20 in our handicap betting with a goal startAdd to betslip and that could be some value given their overall record at Derby. They are 51/10 to win by one in our Winning Margins marketAdd to betslip.
The match kicks off at 1.15pm on Sunday, October 18th at the iPro Stadium
