Wednesday may be ready to record their first away win of the campaign
The general consensus is that Sheffield Wednesday’s didn’t play at all badly at Burnley on Saturday. However, they are paying the price for lapses of concentration at the back and Joe Wildsmith was still beaten three times – the second match in a row that the Owls have conceded three – and the rot needs to be stopped quickly if Carlos Carvalhal’s team aren’t to find themselves in early relegation trouble.
Of course, it is going to time for the new-look side to gel. There have been so many changes at Hillsborough over the last six months that neither the management, players nor fans know whether they are coming or going.
Wildsmith, Daniel Pudil, Fernando Forestieri and Barry Bannan all made their debuts at Burnley and Carvalhal will have to decide whether Michael Turner is ready to join them at the Macron Stadium. Midfielder Jose Semedo and defender Jeremy Helan could also be in line for a recall if the manager decides he needs to shuffle his pack against the Trotters, who have also started slowly themselves.
Striker Gary Madine will line up against his former club, however. and will be determined to put one over the club he left in the summer.
Plenty of Wednesday fans will make the journey across the Pennines for this one and their team look to have an excellent chance of a first away of the campaign at 41/20 in our Full Time Result betting. Both teams to score is 4/5.
The match kicks off at 8.00pm on Tuesday, September 15th at the Macron Stadium
