Wolves can rely on home comforts again.
Yannick Sagbo has joined Wolves on loan from Premier League Hull City and the Ivory Coast striker could make his debut for Kenny Jackett’s men against Huddersfield Town at Molineux.
Sagbo, who scored in the FA Cup semi-finals last season, has been brought in to provide cover for Bakary Sako and Nouha Dicko. The latter has been struggling with a tight hamstring lately and, with Leon Clarke so far failing to make the step up from League One to the Championship, further attacking options were required, though where that leaves Liam McAlinden is anybody’s guess.
Wolves certainly weren’t short of firepower at Reading on Sunday in a game that provided thrilling entertainment for the TV cameras. But, for once, Wanderers’ normally solid defence failed them and a last-minute Reading equaliser cost them two points and the chance to go top of the table.
Perhaps it was a timely reminder that this is a tough league and nothing can be taken for granted until the final whistle. Matt Doherty is a doubt to face the Terriers after suffering an ankle injury at the Madejski so there could be a recall for Scott Golbourne.
Huddersfield have struggled so far this season, sacking manager Mark Robins after only one game. Chris Powell is now in charge and has drafted in much-travelled striker Grant Holt on loan to help ease an injury crisis that means they are currently without Northern Ireland international Martin Patterson and last season’s top scorer James Vaughan.
They beat Millwall on Saturday but it’s still hard to see past another home win for Wolves to keep up their promotion push. They’ve yet to drop a point at Molineux and have only conceded one goal so far while Town have lost three of their four Championship matches on the road with only Fulham so far letting in more goals on their travels.
Wolves are 3/4 to maintain their hundred per cent record at home. A 2-0 correct score is available at 6/1.
The match kicks off at 7.45pm on Wednesday, October 1st at Molineux.
