St Mary’s showdown could go all the way
Southampton have scored at least twice in six of their last seven games at St Mary’s in all competitions but that failure came against Stoke City last time, when they drew a blank and were beaten 1-0. They were woeful for the first hour against Manchester City at the Etihad last weekend and lucky to escape with only a 3-1 loss so confidence may not be too high for the visit of Liverpool in the Capital One Cup quarter-finals.
The Saints drew 1-1 at Anfield earlier this season but the Reds have won on their last two trips to St Mary’s and have won three of their last six matches against Southampton, losing only two.
Jurgen Klopp’s team are bang in form having won five of their last six. They weren’t particularly impressive against either Bordeaux last week or Swansea on Sunday but got the job done. Stand-in skipper James Milner scored from the penalty spot in both games and we have the England midfielder at 7/2 in our Anytime Goalscorer betting to find the net at St Mary’s.
This is the last of the quarter-final ties and we could be kept waiting to find out the line-up for the semi-finals. The draw in 90 minutes is 23/10 and Even is 3/4 in our Odd/Even Goals market. Yes in our Both Halves Under 1.5 goals is a tempting 6/5 – Yes in our Penalty Shootout also makes some appeal at 9/2.
The match kicks off at 7.45pm on Wednesday, December 2 at St Mary’s
