Its amazing what confidence can do for players, or more to the point, what a lack of confidence can do!
It just goes to show that it even happens to the very best out there. I was watching Chelsea on Monday night against Watford and they just looked nervous. You’ve got the likes of Hazard and Pedro who look like producing something from nothing, but other than that they’re all playing with their heads down!
That Bakayoko wants to sort himself out as well doesn’t he?! Chelsea fans should change their song for him to: “ahh ahhh, he always gives the ball away!” because from what I’ve seen recently, he can’t string a pass together and he’s so unaware of what’s around him!!
The press blame it largely on the manager and for me, they can’t be doing that every time. The players haven’t been at it and need to take responsibility, in my book.
They’re definitely lacking a few characters around the changing room. They’ve got rid of Lamps, JT and Drogs, then not really replaced them with like-for-like leaders who can drag their club through bad patches like this.
I know I said they need a main striker, because Morata is absolutely Pony! But bringing in Olivier Giroud isn’t going to solve their problems up top – I don’t know what the hell he’s signed there, but it’s not a standout, No.9 signing which you makes you kick on to a strong Champions League challenge, let alone Premier League.
The reason Conte’s come out and asked for public backing must be because he’s not got the players he wanted in the transfer window. He’d have been warned about that before he took the gig though, so he knows that can happen!
Let’s have it right, from the outside looking in, no one knows what goes on at Chelsea – all we know is that they’re in a tight spot at the minute and they need to sort themselves out sharpish, before they come up against Barcelona in the Champions League!!
I Love this game…
From a West Ham fan’s point of view, Evra is an unbelievable name to have at the club – it’s just five years too late!!
Let’s be completely honest, if he hadn’t have done a Cantona and Fung Fu kicked that Marseille fan, he wouldn’t be at West Ham at all and I can’t imagine that he’s been inundated with offers after that episode.
It makes you laugh, because he’s all over social media saying how much he ‘loves this game’ and how he loves life, but then two foots a fan who gives him a bit of stick. Absolutely classic – what a psycho!!
He’ll bring a bit of experience and leadership with him but for me, I’d rather see some youth and fresh legs in there. We’ve already got Zabaleta and Noble whose legs aren’t getting any quicker.
There’s no way Guardiola would play full-backs without legs and then you’ve got West Ham with two hand-me-down full backs in Evra and Zabaleta – you’re kidding me! LEGS HAVE ABSOLUTELY GONE!
Give The Gaffer A Break…
Why are people moaning about Southgate being at the Super Bowl?! What a load of sh*t!
Ok, it’s a World Cup year but he half knows his side already and he’s got loads of time left. So much can happen between now and then – give him a break for God sake! He’s got to have a life as well!!
This whole thing is just busy people being busy and is lazy journalism. In fact, it sums up the British press: they’ll slaughter Big Sam for slagging off Hodgson and Neville, they’ll call Harry a ‘ducker and diver’ and then they have a go at Southgate for watching the NFL!!
It just shows they’re out to get the England manager no matter how clean cut he is – it makes me laugh because they can’t find anything on him so they’ll slag him for having a day off – it’s absolutely pathetic.
North London Derby
I really don’t know how to call this one because I really like Arsenal’s new signings. They’ve brought in an extra zip to the club – it’s no coincidence that the introduction of two new players has upped the levels of the rest of them.
With Spurs at Evens with BetBright, it looks like that’s where the money’s going, but I tell you now, their FA Cup replay against Newport wouldn’t have been the best preparation ahead of big Derby.
It honestly depends which side is going to turn up on the day. If both teams bring their A-Game then Arsenal (5/2) will win this . They’ve got a little bit more pace and vigor in their side now with Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang – The Gunners just worry me defensively.
This is a very hard one to call – both sides will enjoy the big pitch and I can see there being a lot of goals. I’m going for a Desmond here, which is 10/1 with BetBright.
Other punts for the weekend…
Back Burnley to beat Swansea at 9/4. I’d bite your hand off for that all day long – thank you very much.
Swansea might have smashed it in the FA Cup this week, but it was a replay and it wasn’t against a Premier League side. Dychey has done a terrific job and although the form of the Claret and Blues isn’t great, if there’s one side they can turn it around against, it’s Swansea.
Sturridge could be a great singing for West Brom and seeing as there’s only 11 points between bottom and 9th position in the league, the Baggies could well be out of trouble in no time if he finds a bit of form. I’m not saying they’ll beat Chelsea on Monday night at The Bridge, but I’d back Daniel to score any time at 15/4. I’d also back both teams to score at Evens in this one – think that’s a solid shout!
