Two correct results last week… not the best week I’ve ever had with my predictions and my Wild Card shout for Watford to get a result against City really backfired, but you’ve got to put your nuts on the line sometimes haven’t you!!!
Anyway, we pick ourselves up, we dust ourselves down and we go again – that’s how The Bulldog rolls!
West Ham v Spurs
It always goes off in this one – these are two sides who hate each other and I’m just as interested in who’s going to win the fight in the crowd!!
I know I support The Hammers, but I don’t fancy West Ham this week, especially against Tottenham.
I’ve underestimated Spurs a bit this season and they’ll be pleased not to have the same old boring Wembley cloud hanging over them as they prepare for the match – if anything the onus will be on whether West Ham have settled into the London Stadium yet, which will do Poch’s side a bit of a favour.
It’ll probably feel like a home game for Tottenham and an away game for West Ham!
Burnley v Huddersfield
This is a tough one to call isn’t it, but I’m going for a home win. Burnley are strong at home and have had a decent start this year, they’ve taken 4 points at Stamford Bridge and Anfield so I just don’t see them losing to Huddersfield on Saturday.
Huddersfield have started well, but I’ve got a feeling that their bubble might burst at Turf Moor and their Premier League Honeymoon period may be over.
Burnley have just got too much know-how and more Premier League seasons under the belt, so it’s a win for Dychey’s men for me.
Everton v Bournemouth
Both of these sides are struggling a little bit aren’t they, but Everton have got to beat Bournemouth, especially at home – THEY’VE GOT TO WIN!
This is the game to spark Everton’s season against a struggling, ‘lesser’ team in the league and I’d expect Koeman will want nothing but 3 points here – you can’t expect to challenge for top 6, let alone top 4, if you’re not winning this one.
Manchester City v Crystal Palace
Hodgson: put your helmet on because it’s going to be like The Alamo at the weekend!!
This has got to be my banker this weekend – if you’re a betting man this is like buying money isn’t it?!
Whether you like it or not, City are even money favourites to win the League and have one of, if not THE, best squads in the country – Palace haven’t even scored against the weaker sides in the league and they’re playing away at City – COME ON, THIS IS A NO BRAINER!!
Forget about the points – Palace would take a goal! When Palace eventually score, the fans are going to have some proper banter – I’ll probably even cheer because it will have been so long!!
Southampton v Manchester United
United will win this, but Southampton are one of these sides who are hit and miss – you don’t know who’s going to turn up from one week to the next.
Some weeks you watch them and think they’re a decent outfit and the next week you watch them and they just look weak. Up against the juggernauts of Manchester United, I can only see one outcome here – I know it’s at The Saints’ but they’ll have too much for them.
Lukaku is firing on all cylinders Rashford is looking lively and they’ve started to look a bit like the United of old – I always feel like the home side should score at their own ground so I’m going for a 2-1 United win.
Stoke City v Chelsea
I’d almost say this is another banker – it aint the fortress it used to be at Stoke. They fancy themselves as a nice little footballing team and gone are the days where they’re a nitty-gritty side who were a nightmare to travel to under Pulis – I’m telling you now, they’ll get undone by Chelsea, who will score at least 2 here on Saturday.
Stoke have got a few players who are decent – I said at the start of the season in ‘Who’s Bullard Backing?’ that Jese would be a top class player for them and they’ve got Shaqiri and Choupo-Moting who are good on their day, but they haven’t got enough against Chelsea, I’m afraid.
Swansea v Watford
This is the toughest one of the lot this week…And that’s why I’m going for a 1-1 draw.
Swansea have struggled and Watford haven’t been too bad. Both sides have got some decent enough players but it’s a really hard one to predict in all honesty.
Renato Sanches hasn’t exactly set the world alight since he’s joined Swansea and maybe this could be his chance to show the Premier League what he’s got!
Leicester v Liverpool
I think there’ll be loads of goals in this one – LOADS! And my Wildcard bet of the weekend is for there to be over 4.5 goals in this fixture!
I fancy Vardy to nick a few here – Liverpool’s defence is not the best to put it politely, and they’ll be missing Lovren as well, so Vards will be finding loads of space behind The Red’s back line and he’ll really fancy his chances.
Liverpool will be playing really openly, like they usually do and will create plenty of chances themselves. But in doing so, they’ll leave loads of holes at the back and Vards will be lapping it up all game – I’m telling you now, it’s goals galore at the King Power.
Brighton v Newcastle
I tell you what, after watching them last week, I like the way Newcastle played – bloody hell, didn’t they look good?!
They look organised, they have a manager that the players finally know, but he also gets them fighting for their shirt, which is great for their fantastic fans who haven’t really had that for a long time!
I really like their Skipper Jamaal Lascelles who doesn’t shy away from interviews and is a real leader of men who takes the game by the scruff of the neck. He’s strong at the back, especially in one-on-one scenarios, he’s quick he’s got a goal in him and he’s only 23.
I’m making it clear now that Bullard has seen some genuine talent in this lad, so Southgate: give him a call up!!!
Even though it’s at Brighton I still think Newcastle will get something out of this so I’m backing an away win!
Arsenal v West Brom
This is a win for The Gooners who have put together two solid results since their embarrassment at Liverpool. Everyone jumps on them when they get a bad result but this could be a game which kick starts their season again.
Pulis’ side will be set up well, like they always are, but under the lights at The Emirates, I just think Arsenal will have too much for them and I can see them scoring 3 – it’s perfectly set up for Arsenal.
Last week’s predictions were shocking and my head was obviously all over the place! This time though, I’ve had a proper think about this and have gone with my head over my heart, so I’ve got a good feeling that we’re going to win a few beer tokens this time around!!
Best of Luck,
