Nobody really needed convincing that Enable was a pretty special talent, but the last remaining sceptic was likely swept away by the heroics of her King George victim Ulysses at York on Wednesday.
Unless she performs significantly below par, she will add Thursday’s Yorkshire Oaks to match Winter’s achievement of four straight Group 1s this year with the promise of more to come.
That said, John Gosden knows only too well the occasional perils of the Knavesmire for even a horse of the highest caliber: you don’t have to think back too far to recall chins on the floor at the short-odds defeats of Golden Horn and Taghrooda.

However you play, she is the most interesting rival so long as the ground dries to Good.
Her fourth in the Prince of Wales’s was an excellent run from a really poor track position, and you can forget the Nassau last time when she was undone by a slow pace and the puddingy surface.
I’m not a fan of the Sales race as a betting medium, but the opener features a horse who impressed at this track last time, and might be able to strike again.
Hey Jonesy thrashed subsequent Haydock winner Staxton, while the 8-length third has won a little race since to boot. Darkanna and Alba Power both need a second look.
The Lowther selection is a bit more chancy, but is based on scope for improvement and the trainer’s excellent record here. William Haggas might be set for a good day, as Victory Bond makes a compelling case in the big handicap. Although his effort last time was an improved one on the face of it, I’m pretty sure a strongly run big-field race back at 1 mile will cast him in a better light.
1.55 – Yearling Stakes – Hey Jonesy
3.00 – 1m Handicap – Victory Bond
