Ascot 2.30 – Reponse Exacte (each way)
Be quite clear that trainer Gina Rarick should be respected – she is a super sharp minded US born ex-Journo & her stats are something to behold. This filly cost a lot as a breezer given her pedigree and bolted in at Maison Lafitte the other day. The booking of Oisin Murphy takes the eye and she should not be overlooked at a price.
Ascot 3.05 – Delano Roosevelt
This horse stays really well, yet never really had a chance to show off his strong suit in the Derby, as he got well back early. He’s pretty well regarded even amongst his Ballydoyle peers, is certainly talented enough to win this race and early indications are that the Derby was a pretty strong and representative race.
Ascot 3.40 – Invincible Army
This horse may well not have the raw talent of Sioux Nation or Equilateral, but Invincible Army is a real trier and loves this straight track at Ascot. He probably should have beaten Sands of Mali at Haydock, but James Doyle will have him in the right spot here and he’ll be finishing off better than most.
Ascot 4.20 – Billesdon Brook
They don’t believe it because she was 66/1 in the Guineas, but you can back her again at a pretty decent price. She evidently loves really fast ground, is totally uncomplicated and has had a perfect preparation for the race. The Guineas form is stacking up – the runner up has won 2 Group Ones while the 3rd and 4th have each been subsequently placed in Classics.
Ascot 5.00 – Ceilidh’s Dream
This is a nicely bred filly who appears not to have got home in a muddling edition of the Musidora Stakes at York. She was previously a really taking winner on the Rowley Mile (beating Sea of Class), and has the ability to be in the mix here. Judging by Silvestre de Sousa’s heroics in the Britannia yesterday, she might also be pretty well drawn.
Ascot 5.35 – Dash of Spice
The handicapper has tried to stop him after his Epsom romp, but I expect the 11lb rise won’t be enough. It’s hard to overstate how impressive he was last time and – to add some ballast – the runner up
ran with enormous credit when wheeling out again at Newmarket a few days later.
