The movers and shakers for this weekends UK Greyhound action.
Clonregan Rozy smashed out from Trap 3 and made all at Sunderland for last weeks preview. Highlighted as the best best on the card ‘Roxy’ made all and rewarded backers with a starting price of 4/1.
In this weekend’s UK greyhound racing, we fancy a number of greyhound’s at Romford live on racing post greyhound TV from 7.15 tonight, the champion stakes semi finals start from 8.50 and all three heats are very competitive with the first two from each heat making it into Tuesdays final live on Sky sports.
Today’s racing greyhound racing:
Bookmaker’s afternoon greyhound service (BAGS)
Swindon – First Race 2.08pm
Monmore – First Race 2.18pm
Nottingham – First Race 6.28pm
Sheffield – First Race 6.38pm
Sunderland (RPGTV) – First Race 7.25pm
Romford (RPGTV) – First Race 7.31pm
The first race to preview is the 8.02 champion nights standard over the 400 meter trip, DOWER MATT (T3) will be a short priced favourite but should win if clearing the pacey Bodell Hurricane early, Bishops Wood will his supporters from Trap 5 but mighty struggle to lead and is unlikely to back run Dower Matt. In a clean run race Dower Matt Should win, avoiding early trouble will be the key to the race.
The 8.18 race from Romford is the second heat of the champion nights standard, Express Max (T5) will favourite but there could be plenty of value on his inside, CAPE IMPACT and ROMEO CONCORDE are both sprinters and could ping out from inside draws (T1 and T2) and if either get loose they will be very hard to catch. At the forecast odds it could be argued its value to back both and hope for an upset.
BALLYMAC BOBBYJO has always looked a ‘Romford type’, plenty of early pace and a tight railer he goes in the 8.34 third heat and can ping out from T2 and make all. Brosna King took part in the Derby back in May and the Matt Dartnall trained Swindon raider is the obvious danger. Huggies Buck for Mark Wallis is also a danger to the selection if pinging from T1.
The 8.50 at Romford is the start of the Champion stakes semi finals, CHICAGO is a very interesting runner from T3, the very pacey four bend dog showed that he can stay last time out and is the value selection. Ante Post favourite and course specialist Adageo Bob is likely to start as a short priced favourite this evening but will have to bring his trapping boots as he has pace on his inside and out, only a smash break will do and if slightly missing it he will be in trouble. ReelTrickyOne is the concern for ‘Bob’, the T4 runner is one of the fastest from the traps over the 575 meter trip and the Mark Wallis trained pair will do well to avoid eachother early. Buoy Johnny from T6 won well last time out and could surprise again.
BLONDE RAZOR runs in the second semi at 9.06 from T1, likely to lead the rails early and kick on he should win if striping fitter for last weeks run over course and distance. Mark Wallis will have Blonde Razor spot on tonight and a big run is expected. Jet Stream Duke and Farley Rio are the obvious dangers and will both fancy their chances to qualify for the final.
AIRPORT CAPTAIN won the Champion stakes last year and goes from T1 in the final heat at 9.24, capable of leading or winning from off the pace the Swindon raider will prove very difficult to beat tonight. Pharisse Flyer from T4 could be a spot of value at the forecast odds and rates as the main danger, the May 2012 dog has been improving of late, blessed with early pace he could go clear.
Romford also stages a hurdle competition that gets underway at 9.40, two heats with the first three from each going into Tuesdays final. Last years Harolds cross grand national winner JetStream Reason will prove difficult to beat.
Final selection on the Romford card is HOLYCROSS GERRY at 10.26 from T1, the Yarmouth based dog has only had four runs since moving over from Ireland and should be spot on for tonight race, also taking a major step down in class the John Mullen’s trained dog is worth a look at in the market.
Over at Sunderland greyhound punters have 13 races to get stuck into, 11 standard races with 2 handicap’s also on the card, one over the sprint 261 meter distance with the other been a stayers race over 640 meters. Best bet of the night at Sunderland is TOOSEY FLIGHT in the 9.48 A5 race from T5, this will be her fourth run since a seasonal break and the daughter of Blonde Snapper should make all tonight.

Crayford feature’s two open races over the stayers trip of 714 meters live on RPGTV, PRECIOUS LUCY runs in the first open at 8.34 from T3 and if staying the trip she will be very difficult to catch, the other runners look a class below the selection based on 6 bend form so if staying the trip ‘Lucy’ should make all.
