Each week, we’ll aim to bring you some top quality analysis of the pick of Friday and Saturday’s action at the major UK meetings, bringing you track side insight from our Greyhound Racing expert and hopefully a couple of decent tips along the way!
Dogs to look out for during Friday’s action
SLICK SAVI (7.31 Romford) can smash out from trap 6 and get punters off to a flying start to the Racing Post Greyhound TV (RPGTV) Friday night cards.
The Henlow raider won well last time out over course and distance in a 13.63 clock, a similar break and time should be enough to win this race, the likely danger is LANDED AT LAST from trap 1, capable on his day this dog has been mixing it in decent company of late.
FIT TO WIN is a very interesting runner in the maiden stayer’s race at 9.06 Romford, a recent winner at Sittingbourne over the 500m trip, this will be the first time Andy Collett’s dog has attempted the 6 bend distance, Romford’s 575m trip should be perfect and is expected to go well. Hillside Royle is the likely leader from the one box, and a massive danger if leading and going clear.
Potentially the best bet on the night is BUOY JOHNNY (9.56 Romford) back in May this dog contested the greyhound derby, although eliminated in the first round Paul Young’s dog has shown blistering four bend pace and has previously won over the 6 bend trip at Romford, Buoy Johnny should lead from the 5 box and will not be for catching.
The make up of the race is perfect, ROSEALINDA in trap 3 will be heading for the rails, with Trap 1 (SATELLITE MASABO) moving off at the first bend, all this should make for a messy race in behind the most likely leader BUOY JOHNNY.
The other meeting on RPGTV is Sunderland, it’s an all graded card for the punters to get stuck into, it’s a competitive card with plenty of interesting runners, best bet on the cards appears to be BUCKS DAWN (8.42 Sunderland) capable of leading the rails with trap 2 slow away and 3 likely to move off, BUCKS DAWN is the one for us.
Moving on to Saturday’s racing
The BAGS (bookmakers afternoon greyhound service) feature’s cards from:
Romford – First Race 10.31am
Crayford – First Race 10.38am
Newcastle – First Race 2.24pm
Sittingbourne – First Race 6.28pm
Monmore – First Race 6.38pm
RPGTV continues with racing from Crayford and Newcastle in the evening, live on Sky and on the racing post website.
The feature race on the Crayford card is the 8.34 hurdle open race over the 380 meter distance.
Course specialist MO REALTA FRANK is likely to lead the rails but with only one competitive run in the last three months fitness may be an issue, CASTLELYONS COFI (T6) and LOLLYLIPS (T5) will both be in with a chance if turning second behind the early paced MO REALTA FRANK
PRECIOUS LUCY (22.11 Crayford) is the other selection, ‘Lucy’ is running into form at the moment and the recent 34.16 clock suggests if leading around the first bend she will prove very hard to catch.
