The movers and shakers in this week’s UK Greyhound action.
The tipping in last week’s greyhound preview was a mixed bag results-wise, we managed to pick a couple winners on the Friday with ISHEFORREAL a the highlight for the piece; as predicted, he held the early-paced wide runners around the first bend on the way to victory (starting price 3/1).
ADAGEO BOB also won for us, but the 1/3 price was a lot shorter than expected.
Greyhound punters are in for a treat today! Monmore has 12 open races on the afternoon service and Romford features 12 open races in the evening, live on RPGTV.
Bookmaker’s afternoon greyhound service (BAGS)
Swindon – First Race 2.08pm
Monmore – First Race 2.18pm
Nottingham – First Race 6.28pm
Sheffield – First Race 6.38pm
Sunderland (RPGTV) – First Race 7.25pm
Romford (RPGTV) – First Race 7.31pm
The best bet of the afternoon comes in the 4.18 at Monmore, PAY FREEZE looks likely to hold the rails and lead round the first bend, once in front Elaine Parker’s Sheffield raider would not be for catching. RAZLDAZL BANJO shows pace to the bend but if Pay Freeze can match that rival to the first corner it should be all over.
AIRPORT CAPTAIN is the bet in the 4.57 stayers race, capable of leading or coming from off the pace ‘the captain’ will be hard to beat if avoiding the early paced DROOPYS LONDON on his outside. FARLEY CHICKEN drawn in trap 1 is a very pacey dog but will need luck in running.
AAYAMZAMODEL has been showing blistering four bend pace recently, now stepped back up to the six bend 630 meter distance she will take all the beating, in a race with very little early pace she could find herself in the lead off the second bend and its catch me if you can from there. BEATTIES WILD ran very well on his six bend debut recently and will be a danger if close off the last bend. CUIL ROCKET is the unknown in the race and will be worth a look in the market.
Over at Romford, BROGAN TEE BONE can make a winning debut in the 7.46 race, the ex Irish racer is likely to grab the rails early and kick on around the second bend, if improving on the recent 24.46 trial Dave Mullen’s youngster can get punters off to a winning start on the RPGTV card.
The champion stakes is just around the corner at Romford and plenty of the likely contenders meet in the 9.56 race, Kent derby and Sussex cup winner EXOCET makes a return to the London road circuit and will have plenty of supporters. VANFRENCHIE in trap 1 is the selection in the race, Vanfrenchie won well last time out at Henlow over the 550 meter distance in a 33.67 clock and if taking to the Romford track Mark Wallis will have a potential champion stakes winner on his hands. BINGO BONGO won well on debut last Friday but the trip is an unknown and will struggle to clear EXOCET early.
BUOY JOHNNY in the 10.11 is the best bet on the Romford card, the solo wide seed will lead round the first bend on the way to victory, in a race with very little early its hard to see Johnny not leading and going clear down the back straight, MANNYS WEDNESDAY and PHARISEE FLYER will both be staying on well and are potential dangers if close off the last bend.
Sunderland’s RPGTV meeting is as usual an all graded card, top grade A1 action is at 8:42 and 10.18. The 8.10 handicap over 261 meters is the only race that’s not over the standard 450 meter distance.
Moving on to Saturday’s racing
Romford – First Race 10.31am
Crayford – First Race 10.38am
Newcastle – First Race 2.24pm
Sittingbourne – First Race 6.28pm
Monmore – First Race 6.38pm
Newcastle (RPGTV) – First Race 7.39pm
Crayford (RPGTV) – First Race 7.31pm
The 8.02 race at Crayford looks a match between MO REALTA FRANK and SOVIET MILITARY, the preference is for the latter, with Soviet Military likely to be a short price favourite the value will be in trap one with the Ricky Holloway trained MO REALTA FRANK.
