Sunderland and Romford live on Racing Post Greyhound TV
RPGTV returns to our screens this evening with a decent all open race card from Romford to try and work out plus an ultra competitive graded card from Sunderland. Catch all the action live from 7pm on Sky channel 468.
The first race to highlight this evening is the eight bend marathon that takes place at 8.21 from the London road venue Romford. FABULOUS MODEL looks a lively runner in this race is the selection from T4. The Hall Green raider will need to trap in best fashion to clear main rival Meadow (T2) but if she manages to avoid first bend bother she will take all the beating over a trip that suits. Incredible Flyer (T1) is an unknown over these type of trips and is one to note in the market, significant support in the ring would suggest a big run is expected from connections.
The maiden final at 8.34 can go to the Dave Mullins trained youngster RISING RAZOR who lines up from T3. The May 15 son of Tyrur Sugar Ray impressed in the heats last week on his Romford debut when he recorded a 3.90 sectional and a 24.24 clock, with further improvement likely Razor will take all the beating tonight. Piemans Bullet (T2) and Dunquin Vic (T4) are both capable types and can’t be ruled out. Early paced wide seed Roxholme Martha looks well drawn out in T6 and has a chance with a ping break.
At 8.53 the stayers final at Romford takes place over the six bend 575 metre trip and it looks wide open. Jet Stream Snowy (T2), Memphis Mafia (T3) and Oakfield Caesar (T4) will all be looking for the early lead and it could get messy early on. If there is first bend bother it could play into the hands of GOD OF WAR who runs from T5. The Heather Dimmock trained Towcester raider ran well in the heats last week and with only a handful of runs under his belt he’s one that could improve and surprise in this final. Don’t rule out classy Ferryforth Fran from T6, the Mark Wallis trained son of College Causeway is a big runner and will be staying on well late on.
At 9.09 the British Greyhound Breeders Forum Puppy Oaks final takes centre stage and it’s BROOKSIDE ALICE that appeals in the race from T1. The October 15 daughter of Bonamassa Rocks is four from four when drawn in T1 at Romford and looks a huge runner this evening from a plot draw. The key to the race will be the break and run into the first corner, pop out in best fashion and hold the rails and it should be all over bar the shouting down the back straight. Queen Anna (T4) showed plenty of pace in the heats last week and rates as the main danger. Clairkeith Ayana (T6) is blessed with blistering early pace and can’t be ruled out.
The final selection on the Romford card this evening is SPECIAL STORY who runs from T1 in the 10.23 open race over the standard four bend trip of 400 metres. The Ernie Gaskin trained railer is five from ten when drawn on the rails and looks very well drawn this evening in a race with two middle seeds and two wide seeds, if Special Story leads round it’s catch me if you can down the back straight.
Over at Sunderland look out for TOM TOM CHARLIE (T6) in the 10.05 handicap race. The consistent scratch runner will be staying on well late on and if he’s granted a clear run he can get up close to home.
