RPGTV returns to our screens this evening with a decent all open race card from Romford on show plus an ultra competitive and tricky graded card from Sunderland to try and work out. Join the Racing Post Greyhound TV panel on Sky channel 468 from 7pm.
The first race to highlight is the 8.37 open race from Romford over the standard four bend trip of 400 metres. MASHMAD EYEBROWS is the selection for the race from T1, the recent Bresmed Northern Sprint final winner looks ideally drawn on the rails here and with a level break she should hold her pitch into the first corner and hit the back straight on the bunny. Barnfield Angle (T3) and Wildfire Angel (T4) both ran well over course and distance last week and are worth noting in the market.
The Romford Friday night 500 standard final at 8.53 can to go to Towcester raider CALCO FLYER who lines up from T2 for champion trained Mark Wallis. The September 12 son of Blonde Snapper has won his last four over course and distance in impressive fashion and granted a clear run into the first corner tonight he can make it five on the bounce. As ever over the 400 metre trip at the London road circuit Romford the break and run into the first corner will prove vital, you can’t afford a tardy start over this trip. Barricane Hazard (T3) rates as the main danger, on the bunny the Pat Janssens trained railer would be a danger to all. Don’t rule out well drawn Chubbys Oak from T6, as the solo seeded greyhound in the race he will be in the perfect pitch to take advantage if those inside bunch into the first bend.
The stayers final at 9.09 can go to ASTUTE MISSILE who runs from T2 for Hove based trainer Seamus Cahill. Although drawn a little closer to the rails than normal Astute Missile can overcome this with a ping break, turn handy and it’s race on for this decent four and six bend performer. Halfway To Ricky (T4) recorded a flying 13.54 sectional last week in the heats and would be a danger to all with a similar smash break tonight. Garryglass Champ (T6) took a while to get going over course and distance last week but that was his first look at the circuit, with that now under his belt he looks a huge runner in this ultra competitive six bend event.
The eight bend marathon at 9.26 can go to Nottingham raider NANNY CAKES who runs from T3. The October 14 daughter of Kinloch Brae caught the eye in defeat last time out over course and distance and looked a surefire future winner over the 750 metre trip. Tonight from what looks a decent draw Nanny Cakes has a cracking chance to turn handy and if she manages to avoid an early bump she will take all the beating. Local runner Jaytee Raptor (T4) rates as the main danger, although beaten in a graded event on Saturday the time recorded reads well against this type of class and he has a chance on the bunny.
The final selection on the Romford card this evening is ROSWELL ROMANOV (T2) in the 575 metre open race at 10.01. The 2017 Coronation Cup winner is a class act on his day and if he manages to avoid first bend bother he can hit the front by the fourth bend and power clear of the chasing pack.
Over at Sunderland look out for EL CLASICO (T6) in the handicap race at 9.00. El Clasico blotted up last time out and recorded an impressive 27.60 clock, a repeat of that would make him very hard to beat here.
