Live greyhound racing returns to our screens this evening at Kinsley as the West Yorkshire based track plays host the 2017 Gymcrack final live on Sky Sports from 7pm.
The first race to highlight is the 7.11 open race over the 462 metre four bend trip. BUBBLY TURBO looks well drawn in T3 and if the Romford raider traps out in best fashion he can make all and land the prize for his trainer Paul Young. The key to the race will be the break and run into the first corner, without a look round Kinsley it’s imperative that Bubbly Turbo hits the back straight on the bunny, miss the break and it could be all over for Bubbly backers. Along Came Finn (T6) went well in a recent course and distance trial and rates as the main danger.
The six bend stayers race at 7.26 over the 650 metre trip can go to unexposed middle seed WORSBORO ZEBO who lines up from T6. The Sheffield raider impressed around Belle Vue recently over the 590 metre trip staying on well to land that race and he looks well drawn this evening to land this race in front of the Sky Sports camera’s. This race could get messy early on, Slick Salsa from T1 is likely to edge off at trap rise and could hamper those drawn middle and Mayshillbillyboy from T5 is likely to head for the rails, if there is trouble inside Worsboro Zebo will be in the perfect pitch to take advantage.
At 7.43 the marathon performers take centre stage over the 844 metre trip at Kinsley. SLICK STRAUSS (T4) has been keeping good company of late over six bends and looks a huge runner here, if the Towceser raider manages to get on the bunny early on he will take all the beating over a trip that should suit. Bubbly Tempest (T3) is another that could go well and is worth noting in the market. Don’t rule out Atlantis Jacob from T1, the consistent Romford performer won well last time out and would be a danger to all if within striking distance at halfway.
At 8.16 look out for DOWER FORGOLD who runs from T3 for Romford based trainer Phil Simmonds. The early paced railer looks well drawn to lead round and once on the bunny the July 15 son of Zero Ten should pull clear of the chasing pack and land this race. As ever the key to victory will be the break and run into the first corner, lead round and it’s race on for this lightly raced puppy. Dinnington Champ from T1 rates as the main danger, he’s capable of a flashy break so he could be our main rival into the first bend. Don’t rule out Barricane Merlin from T4, the improving youngster won well last time out and would be a danger to all with a level break.
Early paced middle seed SWIFT HANSEL has been in flying form of late and if he breaks well this evening he can make all from T6 in the 8.33 stayers race over the 650 metre trip. Calzaghe Jan (T1) and Blackstone Lyric (T2) are both capable performers on a going day and rate as huge dangers. Geelo Bullet (T4) ran well last time out after a short layoff and is one to note in the market, significant market support should be noted.
At 9.08 the 2017 Gymcrack final takes centre stage and all eyes will be on BALLYMAC HEALY who lines up from T1 for trainer Julie Bateson. The September 15 son of Drumcrow Obama looks ideally drawn on the rails to lead round and if he manages to hit the back straight on the bunny is should be all over bar the shouting. Cometwopass (T2) and The Other Billy (T3) rate as the main dangers, both have run well during the heats of the competition and have huge chances in a competitive final. Good luck to all owners and connections with runners.
