All eyes will be on Romford and Sunderland this evening as the two tracks take centre stage live on Racing Post Greyhound TV, join the RPGTV panel on Sky channel 468 from 7pm for all the latest greyhound news, race previews and market mover information.
The first race to highlight this evening is the 8.03 open race from Romford over the standard four bend trip of 400 metres. MASH MAD EYEBROWS (T1) looks well drawn on the rails and rates as a solid bet in a competitive race. In a race full of early paced performers the break and run into the first corner will prove vital, lead round and it should be all over bar the shouting down the back straight. Barnfield Angel (T4) is capable of a flashy break and rates as the main danger, on the bunny the Dave Mullins trained runner would be a huge runner. Towcester raider Brynoffa Jasmin (T5) is another blessed with blistering early gears and she can’t be ruled out.
At 8.21 look out for JAYTEE RAPTOR who lines up from T4 for trainer Paul Young over the marathon trip of 750 metres. The October 14 son of Kinloch Brae went clear last week over course and distance but struggled to get home and eventually finished second, that was only his second run over this type of trip and with further improvement possible he’s got a chance this evening. Nanny Cakes (T2) and Swift Hersila (T3) both finished behind Raptor last week but if either were to turn in a handy pitch this would surely go close. Towcester raiders Meelin Princess (T5) and Chriseperfection (T6) are interesting runners and they are both worth noting in the market.
At 8.53 the Romford Friday night maiden final can go to solo wide seed DROOPYS BAGGIO who runs from T6. The Phil Simmonds trained runner ran out an impressive winner over course and distance last week and a repeat 3.78 sectional and 24.03 clock should be good enough to take this race. Good Start (T2) also ran well last week and rates as the main danger, if the Central Park based performer was to lead at the rails he would be a huge runner. Don’t rule out local runner Brookside Lady from T4, she’s been a little inconsistent at the boxes of late but would be a huge runner with a ping break.
The Stuart Roberts Quicksilver Trophy final at 9.09 can go to early paced performer WILLY WHITEOCKS who lines up from T4. The November 13 son of Droopys Scolari will need to lead round and kick clear of the chasing pack to win this competitive final but he’s certainly capable and could be the value in the race against the odds-on favourite Roswell Romanov in T1. Romanov is a classy performer over this 575 metre distance at the London road circuit Romford and if he was to break level he could be hard to hold. Memphis Mafia (T2) is a consistent sort and is another in with a chance.
CLONDOTY ALEX is in the form of his life at the moment with five wins on the bounce over the standard four bend trip of 400 metres at Romford, tonight from an ideal draw in T1 he’s likely to make it six on the trot. As ever the break and run into the first corner will prove vital, lead round and hit the back straight on the bunny and it should be all over. If Alex was to miss the break from his inside draw that would throw the race wide open, Azza Boy (T2), Civility Counts (T3) and Chubbys Oak (T6) are all decent sorts on the bunny and could attract support on track.
The final selection on the Romford card this evening is PASS TO GO who runs from T6 in the 9.44 open race over the 400 metre trip. Well drawn as the solo wide seed in the race Pass To Go looks plotted up and granted a clear run he will be hard to hold down the back straight. Fire Height Ray (T5) looks the likely race leader and the local runner could be the forecast option in the race.
Over at Sunderland look out for TOM TOM CHARLIE (T6) in the 10.05 handicap race. The RPGTV Friday night regular will be flying down the back straight and if he avoids trouble at the third bend he can hit the front late on and record another victory in front of the camera’s. Pennys Wanda who runs from T2 rates as the main danger, if she clears T1 into the first corner she’s likely to skip clear and then it’s catch me if you can off the final bend.
