Racing Post Greyhound TV returns to our screens this evening with competitive graded action on show from Sunderland plus a decent open race card from Romford for greyhound punters to try and work out. Catch all the racing live on Frontrunner TV Sky channel 468 from 7pm.
The first race to highlight this evening is the eight bend marathon at 8.21 from the London road venue Romford.
CARDEN PUNCH who lines up from T5 for champion trainer Mark Wallis looks the likely race leader and she could prove hard to peg back. Haliska Rubra (T6) looks the main danger, if the Hove raider turns second it’s race on down the back straight. Don’t rule out local runner Pacey Karnage from T3, with a ping break she would be a danger to all.
At 8.34 keep an eye on COURTS AD PETER who runs from T1 for trainer Phil Simmonds. The early paced railer will need to trap out in best fashion to lead in this race but if he manages to do so and hits the back straight on the bunny he will take all the beating. Our Man Dan (T3) is capable of a flashy start and would be a runner on the bunny. Solo wide seed Garryglass Dash looks well drawn in T6 and could attract support.
DOWER FORGOLD (T1) looks well drawn in the Romford Friday night standard final at 9.09 and with a level break the July 15 son of Zero Ten can make all and land the prize for his connections. In a race full of early paced performers Dower Forgold can not afford a tardy start, it’s imperative that he traps out well and holds the rails into the first corner, if he manages to that it’s race on down the back straight.
Crayford raider Snowdon Bolt (T4) has been in flying form of late and rates as the main danger. Don’t rule out Chubbys Oak from T6, the wide seeded runner is capable of a ping break and is sure to prove popular on track this evening.
The six bend open race at 9.26 over the 575 metre trip looks a race into the first corner between My Mate Max from T1 and Newland Simon from T2, whichever greyhound leads round should make all and land this race. Slight preference is for MY MATE MAX from T1, the John Mullins trained Yarmouth raider impressed on his last visit to Romford when he recorded a flying 13.59 sectional and 35.50 clock, a repeat of that run should be good enough to take this race. Jaytee Raptor (T4) will be staying on well, if he’s within striking distance off the final bend he would be a danger to all.
ROSWELL ROMANOV is a class act at Romford, his current record reads twenty wins from thirty races. Tonight Romanov lines up from T3 in the 9.44 open race over the 575 metre six bend trip. Romanov looks the likely race leader and once on the bunny it should be all over bar the shouting for his backers. Oakfield Caesar (T6) impressed last time out at Doncaster in front of the RPGTV camera’s and with a ping break he could be the one to challenge Romanov early on.
At 10.01 look out for CLONDOTY ALEX when the Towcester raider lines up from T4 for trainer Mark Wallis. The consistent May 13 son of Razdalz Jayfkay will need to trap in best fashion to clear the pace drawn inside but granted a clear run into the first corner he should hit the front down the back straight and kick for home. Barricane Hazard (T3) looks the main danger, if he managed to hold Clondoty Alex into the first corner he would having a chance of landing this race for his trainer Pat Janssens.
Over at Sunderland keep an eye on TOM TOM CHARLIE who runs from T6 in the handicap race at 9.16. As ever Tom Tom Charlie is running off scratch in this race, he’s giving away fourteen metres to his rival in T1 but if he avoids trouble at the third corner he can swing off the final bend and claim the victory late on. The main rivals will be Murleys Taylor in T2 and Highclere Moyes in T3, both puppies are open to plenty of improvement and would be huge runners if they avoid first bend bother.
