Romford and Sunderland Live on Racing Post Greyhound TV
RPGTV returns to our screens this evening with competitive graded action on show from Sunderland plus a decent all open card from Romford. Catch all the racing live on Frontrunner TV Sky channel 468 from 7pm.
In the 8.21 open race from Romford BATMANS AUNT (T3) is worth noting in the market, the Paul Young trained Irish recruit recorded a decent 24.25 course and distance trial earlier this week and with further improvement likely she’s one to watch this evening. The key to victory for backers will be the break and run into the first corner, lead round and it should be all over bar the shouting down the back straight. Tread Lightly (T5) and Roxholme Martha (T6) look the main opposition and both would be huge runners with ping breaks.
The Romford Friday night 500 final at 8.53 can go to Towcester raider CALCO FLYER who lines up from T2 for champion trainer Mark Wallis. The September 12 son of Blonde Snapper impressed last time out and recorded a flying 23.86 clock, a repeat of that would surely be good enough to take this final. It is however a race full of early pace so Calco Flyer will have to bring his trapping boots and avoid first bend bother to lift the trophy. Salthill Wizard looks well drawn in T1 and could attract support. Wide seed Chubbys Oak (T6) is another that looks well drawn and can’t be ruled out in a competitive final, good luck to all owners and connections with runners.
The stayers final at 9.09 over the six bend 575 metre trip at Romford looks at the mercy of wide seed DARK ROOLAR who lines up from T6 for Towcester based trainer Kevin Hutton. Last time out over course and distance the lightly raced son of Droopys Cain trapped out well and made all, a similar sectional this evening should see him on the bunny then it’s catch me if you can down the back straight. Calco Swift looks the main danger from T3, with a level break she will go close. Don’t rule out local runner Underground Jet from T1, with a plot draw to work from he’s likely to prove popular in the market and could attract support at fancy prices.
At 9.26 look out for SLICK SALSA who lines up from T6 in the eight bend marathon race over the 750 metre trip at Romford. The Pat Janssens trained runner looks the likely race leader and she could prove hard to peg back if she’s granted a soft lead. Lightly raced Young Columbus (T2) looks an interesting runner now stepped upto eight bends for the first time and is one to note in the market, and significant support on track should be noted. Nanny Cakes (T1) didnt have much chance last week over course and distance against the impressive Aayamza Breeze but with nothing of that class in this field shes another in with a shout.
Over at Sunderland one to keep an eye on is TOM TOM CHARLIE who runs from T6 in the four bend handicap race at 8.11. Charlie is a regular on RPGTV and can often be seen cutting through the pack down the back straight and making a challenge off the final bend to land the race, will Tom do it again tonight in front of the camera’s?
