What a lovely treat this is! Mid-week Premier League fixtures to see us through the weekly grind!
Keep an eye out for my VERY ballsy mid-week wildcard bet, where I think there’s going to be a little bit of an upset for one of the Manchester sides!
Brighton v Crystal Palace
I told you Palace would do alright at the weekend didn’t I… I think we’ll see a little change from them now and this is another fixture where they’ll really feel they can get something.
Brighton lost to United at the weekend, but it was only by one and to be fair they put up a pretty good fight at Old Trafford.
I’m going for a Palace win here (19/10). They may still be bottom of the league, but their recent form in comparison to the start of the season is much better and after drawing and winning their last two games, they’ll start to believe they’re turning a corner.
Leicester v Spurs
Spurs will have too much to be honest. I’ve got to go for another way win here.
They had a disappointing result against West Brom at the weekend and if they’ve got any chance in hell of reviving any sort of title challenge, then they need a win here, BIG TIME.
Leicester are dangerous at home, where they like to play the ball in behind the opposition defence on their big pitch.
It’s not an easy one to call, but I’ve got to go for Spurs: 0-1 (13/2).
Watford v Manchester United
Watford won 2-0 at the weekend and I tell you what: they’re on fire at the moment. They are a proper team, but the question is, are they strong enough to beat United?
Well, United didn’t play well at the weekend and Jose wasn’t a happy bunny, but they still ground out a result in the typical fashion of a Mourinho side.
I’m going for a shock result here though and I’m having this as my mid-week wildcard bet.
Watford have been flying this season and I can see them defying the odds and beating Utd who won’t be chuffed with the trip down the M1 on a Tuesday.
There’ll be a proper atmosphere at Vicarage Road, under the flood lights and the home side will go into this really feeling like they can get something.
There’s no better time for Watford to play Man United, so back The Hornets at 4/1 with BetBright!
West Brom v Newcastle
How did West Brom pull Gary Megson out of the hat?! Where’s he come from all of a sudden?!
I wasn’t the biggest fan of them sacking Pulis, but at the same time, they got a result against Spurs at Wembley which was never going to be easy – so far the club will feel it was the right decision, but time will tell.
Newcastle don’t have the best away record in the league and have lost their last four games, so won’t be going into this away tie full of confidence to say the least – this is a game where whoever turns up and wants it most on the day will probably edge it.
When it’s that close to call, I have to look at the home advantage and back the Baggies (11/8).
Arsenal v Huddersfield
Huddersfield did really well against City at the weekend and even went a goal up!!!
For a moment I thought they were going to do a smash and grab job on both Manchester sides this season!! They obviously went on to lose the game, but they put up a good fight.
Arsenal are on a good run at the moment and will probably have too much for The Terriers, who ran their nuts off all day on Sunday again, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they are completely drained from that game after working so hard and getting nothing out of it. They’ll make it difficult enough for Wenger’s side, but I can only see a home win here.
As I’ve said before, you never hear about Arsenal when they’re winning. Apart from City, I think Arsenal are the team to beat at minute. They’ve won four out of their last five games where they only lost to City, which was no shock result.
Bournemouth v Burnley
I fancy The Cherries every now and then and they do have a big home win in them, as they demonstrated against Huddersfield the other week.
I don’t mind Burnley on the road but I fancy Bournemouth in this one at 19/20.
Don’t ask me why, but I can see a load of goals, so stick a bit on over 4.5 goals at 7/1 – tasty little bet for you there!!
Chelsea v Swansea
Like the game previously discussed, there will be goals a plenty here and I can see Chelsea getting a minimum of three – this will be the most comfortable win of the mid-week fixtures and is my banker of the week: Chelsea 3-0 at 11/2!!
Tammy Abraham will miss the game for Swansea as he’s against his parent club, so the visitors’ goal threat has immediately been downgraded and this Chelsea team are still a proper outfit, so I don’t see Swansea getting a look in, in all honesty.
Ok, they drew at the weekend against Newcastle but other than that, they’d lost their last four – they’re the side who are struggling the most in the league and I can only see one outcome at Stamford Bridge.
Everton v West Ham
I’m not being funny, but if Everton were ever going to win a game, it would be against West Ham!!! We are absolutely tragic at the minute!!
Whoever appointed Moyes ain’t got a clue… as a West Ham fan, I don’t like to say it, but I don’t see us beating them.
What the hell has happened to Everton?! The wheels have just completely fallen off!! They got smashed 4-1 against Southampton and had their pants pulled down by Atalanta mid-week.
Unsworth’s never getting the gig, is he?! I’ve heard whispers of Martin O’Neill coming in… another dinosaur who’s been on the Merry-go-round for too long – I reckon they’ve all got the same agent! It’s an absolute liberty with all the fresh talent that’s out there – frankly it’s a joke.
Both teams are so bad I have to go for a draw – I can’t see either of them putting a win together, in all honesty.
Manchester City v Southampton
Unsurprisingly I’m backing City here, who are obvious 2/11 favorites. They’ve dropped two points all season and are playing at home against Southampton who can play nice football, but are so hot-and-cold from one week to the next, that you never know what you’re getting with them.
Although they’re not the longest odds, I quite like the sound of a BTTS bet in this one at 19/20. Kevin de Bruyne to score any time at 7/4 is a great bet too, isn’t it?! He’s an absolute wizard!
Stoke v Liverpool
Stoke can sometimes nick a result, especially at home but Liverpool are going to score at least one here – so the question you’ve got to ask yourself is: will Stoke score more than two? The answer is probably not.
Mo Salah is on fire and he’ll be chuffed to have bagged against Chelsea on Saturday. If Mane comes back into the team then there’s only one winner for me: Liverpool win all day long and Salah first goal scorer (15/4) looks like a bet!
